I believe the crashing of the Shoemaker-Levy
comet into Jupiter on July 16, 1994, precisely on the 9th day of Ab on
the Hebrew calendar, was a heavenly sign.
(Gen 1:14 KJV) And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
(Luke 21:25 KJV) And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
A brief update of events that have previously occurred on the 9th day of Ab in regards to the Jewish people (obtained from Grant Jeffrey's "Armageddon, Appointment with Destiny"):
1)The
twelve spies return with their report-Israel loses faith and is
condemned
to die in the wilderness.
2)The destruction of Solomon's temple by the Babylonians in 587 BC.
3)The destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in AD 70.
4)The Roman army plowed Jerusalem with salt in AD 71.
5)The destruction of Simeon Bar Cochba's army in 135 AD.
6)England expelled all of the Jews in 1290 AD.
7)Spain expelled all the Jews in 1492 AD.
8)World War 1 was declared on the 9th day of Ab ,1914,Russia mobilized for WW1 and launched persecutions against the Jews in Eastern Russia.
Given the above, can it possibly be a coincidence that Shoemaker-Levy's first fragment struck Jupiter precisely after the onset of the 9th day of Ab, Jerusalem time?

Concerning my book "Prophecy And The Comet: Biblical Impact Of Shoemaker-Levy 9" , I agree with you that that comet was a omen, a sign pointing to the time of Jacob's trouble. I am convinced that the sign shouted "We Are The Armageddon Generation!"
In essence, the comet's fragments created a coded pattern of dark scars (Black Eyes) on Jupiter. And this pattern matched the main events found in the Book of Revelation. Basically, when a fragment produced a Black Eyes it matched up with a simple or singular Apocalyptic event such as the 1st Seal--Conquest, 2nd Seal--War, 3rd Seal--Famine, etc.
And when a fragment crashed producing no visible scar/no detectable impact, it matched up with a seal or trumpet or vial that involves complex events such as the multitude of items associated with the 6th Seal which includes complex events in the Cosmos, Earth, and Heaven, angels holding back the winds, 144,000 sealed, and angels and servants worshipping in Heaven..
The
statistical probability of this
exact simple/complex sequence occurring throughout the 7 seals, 7
trumpets,
7 vials, and Satan's final war was an amazing figure: 1 in 4,194,304.
This
goes way beyond coincidence! (Also note: The locations of the initial
impact
zones on Jupiter indicate to me that the terrors we face are just
around
the corner, on the horizon.)
Interestingly, Comet Hale-Bopp will be at its
closest to earth on March 23, 1997, the Jewish feast of
Purim. The
following discussion is from the January 1997 edition of Biblical

THE COMET OF 66 A.D.
In the year 66 A.D., Israel was invaded by Roman forces, In the Spring of 66 A.D., Haley's Comet appeared very bright in the sky over Jerusalem. The comet's closest approach to the earth occurred on March 20/21 of that year. The Passover was on March 28/29. The following is a quote from Josephus "Wars of the Jews."
"Thus were the miserable people persuaded by these deceivers, and such as beheld God himself; while they did not attend, nor give credit, to the signs that were so evident, and did so plainly foretell their future desolation; but, like men infatuated, without either eyes to see or minds to consider, did not regard the denunciation that God made to them. Thus there was a star resembling a sword, which stood over the city, a comet that continued a whole year. Thus also before the Jew's rebellion, and before those commotions which preceded the war, when the people were come in great crowds to the feast of unleavened bread, on the eighth day of the month Xanthicus (Nisan), and at the ninth hour of the night, so great a light shone round about the altar and the holy house, that it appeared to be bright day-time; which light lasted for half an hour. This light seemed to be a good sign to the unskillful, but was so interpreted by the sacred scribes as to portend those events that followed immediately upon it."
The eighth day of Nisan in the year 66 A.D. began on March 21 when Haley's Comet was at its closest approach to the earth. In the quote above, "people were come in great crowds to the feast of unleavened bread" which is Nisan 15 or one week from the eighth of Nisan. The people were coming into Jerusalem for the feast, which was one week away. Could the appearing and closest approach of Haley's Comet in 66 A.D., "immediately before" the Roman invasion be a foreshadowing of "Jacob's Trouble" in the end times, which may soon be upon us?
Apparently Bob Wadsworth, who has done intensive work plotting, and studying comets Hale-Bopp and Hyakutake discovered something interesting. A remarkable coincidence! While plotting the paths of Hyakutake during the month of April 96, against the path of comet Hale-Bopp during the month of April 97 an ALMOST PERFECT CROSS is formed. i.e. they intersect at almost 90 degree angles. Furthermore, the point at which they cross, both comets were at this point on the EXACT same day. This day is April 11th. In other words, on April 11th 1996, comet Hyakutake occupied the same spot in the sky that comet Hale-Bopp occupied on April 11th 1997. Next year the Jewish Feast of Passover falls on April 11, 1998!
Now, where is this point in the sky? Apparently this point is in the constellation of Perseus, who holds the severed head of the Gorgon, Medusa. This intersection point just happens to be in the middle of the head of Medusa at the eye. This eye is the star ALGOL. So in Greek mythology, these two comets intersect on the same day, in different years, forming an almost perfect cross in the eye of Medusa!
Traditionally, according to the Starlore Handbook, ALGOL is the MOST MALEVOLENT star of the heavens. More interesting is what the Hebrews called this star. In Hebrew it is known as the HEAD OF SATAN!
The
following is a quote from "The
Witness of the Stars" by E.W.
Bullinger, pp.116-117, concerning
the star Algol:
"It
is a most remarkable phenomenon that so many of these enemies
should be characterised by variable
stars! But this head of Medusa,
like the neck of Cetus, has one.
Al Gol is continually changing. In
about 69 hours it changes from the
4th magnitude to the 2nd. During
four hours of this period it gradually
diminishes in brightness, which
it recovers in the succeeding four
hours; and in the remaining part of
time, invariably preserves its greatest
lustre. After the expiration of
this time its brightness begins
to decrease again. Fit emblem of our
great enemy, who, "like a roaring
lion, goeth about seeking whom he may
devour" (I Pet. 5:8); then changing
into a subtle serpent (Gen. 3:8);
then changing again into "an angel
of light" (2 Cor. 11:14).
"Transforming himself" continually,
to devour, deceive, and destroy."

HALE-BOPP - LAST SEEN BY NOAH?
A
comet discovered in July 1995 has
now become bright enough to be
easily seen with the naked eye,
even from urban sites, and will remain
easily visible to northern-hemisphere
observers through April 1997.
The
Hale-Bopp Comet orbits and is
still approaching, the sun, with its
closest approach (perihelion) occurring
tomorrow night, April 1, 1997.
Daniel W. E. Green of the
Harvard-Smithsonian
Center for Astrophysics
stated that the latest orbital
calculations
indicate that the Hale-Bopp
comet last passed through the inner
solar system about 4210 years ago.
An Arutz-7 correspondent noted that
according to the ancient Jewish text
Seder Olam Rabah, the comet's previous
appearance was approximately the
same year that Noah began building
the ark. {ARUTZ 7 3/31 C}
This of course brings to mind Jesus' words to his disciples while on the Mount of Olives.
(Mat
24:37) As it was in the
days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
(Mat 24:38) For in the days
before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving
in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;
(Mat 24:39) and they knew
nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all
away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
The following is a very interesting observation from the internet in regards to Comet Hale-Bopp:
According to the November 1995 issue of Sky & Telescope, Comet Hale-Bopp will pass through the mazzaroth (constellations) of Perseus, Taurus, and Orion. The fact that it passes through Orion is a very ominous sign. The Talmud has the following information:
Berachoth 58b - OVER SHOOTING-STARS [ZIKIN]. What are ZIKIN? Samuel said: A comet. Samuel also said: I am as familiar with the paths of heaven as with the streets of Nehardea, with the exception of the comet, about which I am ignorant. There is a tradition that it never passes through the constellation of Orion, for if it did, the world would be destroyed. But we have seen it pass through? - Its brightness passed through, which made it appear as if it passed through itself. R. Huna the son of R. Joshua said: Wilon was torn asunder and rolled up, showing the brightness of Rakia. R. Ashi said: A star was removed from one side of Orion and a companion star appeared on the other side, and people were bewildered and thought the star had crossed over.
So,
when Hale-Bopp passes through
Orion, the Talmudic sages see this as indicating the destruction of the
Earth. Hale-Bopp will pass through Orion starting the day after Pesach
(Passover), (April 23, 1997) 5757, during the counting of the Omer, and
will complete the transit on Shavuot (Feast of Weeks - June 11, 1997),
5757.

The main event marking this transition into the next Millennium just so happens to be a wondrous "heavenly display" recorded in the Bible, and foretold by prophets and kings thousands of years ago. Millions of people will be witness to the sky turning black during daylight hours for the last total solar eclipse spectacular of the Century occurring on August 11, 1999. The eclipse will stretch from the coast of Newfoundland across the Atlantic Ocean to the United Kingdom then passing finally through India. This eclipse carries with it a rare planetary alignment through early May of 2000, occurring in the star constellations of Leo, Taurus, Aquarius, and Scorpius—the "four beasts of the Book of Revelation" and the "four beasts of Ezekiel."
One
of the most interesting factors
of the solar eclipse is that it will occur over Europe and the Middle
East
including Iran, Iraq and Israel. Israel will be affected on August 11
(Av
29, 5759), at 16-17 degrees East of Jerusalem between 11:00 - 12:00
U.T.
(Uersal Time) when the motion of the umbral (the area in which the
eclipse
is total) will pass over Jerusalem.
The Leonid meteor shower occurs
each year on November 17-18. As the name suggests the meteors
appear
to originate in the constellation Leo (the lion). They are
the result
of the interaction of the planet Earth with fragments of Comet
Temple-Tuttle.
Every 33 years or so the intensity of this meteor shower increases to
the
level of a meteor storm. In 1998 or 1999 such a meteor storm
is expected.
It is predicted to be seen best from the Middle East and
Asia. The
following is an excerpt from an article in Sky and Telescope:
Based on what happened around the previous six Leonid epochs, there is a chance of a meteor storm in any year from 1997 through 2000, with the odds especially favoring 1998 and 1999. Even if a meteor storm fails to materialize, the Leonids still could produce rates higher than any other annual stream, even outdoing the Geminids and Perseids. In short, every skywatcher around the world should plan early-morning observing sessions each night around November 17-18 through the end of the century.
Like the weather, it is extremely difficult to predict the hourly rates of meteor showers. Peter Brown, a respected researcher of the Leonid meteor phenomena, has suggested a more optimistic prediction of between 1000 and 9000 meteors per hour in 1998 (zenith hourly rate). In any case, it is well worth the effort to observe the upcoming Leonid meteors since it will be another century after the 1998-1999 events before significant Leonid meteor displays are once again likely.
When thinking about this celestial fireworks display the following verses come to mind:

and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all
the
earth.
(Mat 24:27) For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
